Answering the Call: Why Care Connection Center Volunteers Matter

9/10/25, 5:00 PM
“I called… and someone listened. Someone prayed with me. Someone reminded me I wasn’t alone.”
This testimony is just one of many spoken by neighbors who reached out to the Care Connection Center. Each call is not simply about needs—it’s about relationships. And at CareNetworkCR, we believe relationships are where God’s love transforms lives.
Volunteering at the Care Connection Center is evangelism at its most authentic. It’s not a pulpit, but a phone line. Not a sermon, but a Spirit-led conversation. Volunteers embody Jesus’ words and demonstrate His truth, offering love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23)—to people who may never step into a church.
Many callers are disconnected, searching, or hesitant to walk into a sanctuary. Volunteers become a living bridge—welcoming them into care, connecting them with partner churches, and showing them what God’s family looks like in action.
Walking Alongside Others: The Chalmers Center reminds us that poverty is not only about lacking resources, but about broken relationships—with God, self, others, and creation. Volunteers at the Care Connection Center walk alongside callers, helping restore those relationships with dignity and hope. It’s not about doing for—it’s about doing with.
